2025 Audi S e-tron GT - Review

Audi isn’t settling for the e-tron GT being just a good luxury EV—it’s aiming to set the bar even higher. With a major update for the 2025 model, Audi is addressing the GT’s past shortcomings while enhancing its best features. Plus, the introduction of the 2025 e-Tton RS GT Performance takes things to the next level, making it the most powerful Audi ever built.

Performance

Audi is rolling out the 2025 e-tron GT in three versions, all equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system under the iconic Quattro badge. The entry-level S e-tron GT now packs a serious punch with 669 horsepower—a big leap from the 522 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque in the previous model.

Moving up the range, the RS e-tron GT now sits in the middle, delivering a whopping 844 hp, an increase from the 637 hp it had in 2024. But the real showstopper is the top-tier RS e-tron GT Performance, pushing an astonishing 912 hp. Audi claims the S GT hits 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, while the RS shaves that down to 2.8 seconds. The RS GT Performance, Audi's most powerful production vehicle to date, rockets from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Based on previous test results, it’s likely these times are on the conservative side, and each model may clock even faster times in real-world testing.

Audi has also lightened the e-tron GT's battery and equipped all three models with the same 105 kWh pack (97 kWh usable). Enhancements in cooling and battery chemistry further boost performance. Additionally, regenerative braking power has jumped from 290 kW to 400 kW, and drivers can fine-tune deceleration strength using paddles on the steering wheel.

Range and Charging

Upgrading to the 105-kWh battery (97 kWh usable) means a boost in range across the board. The S e-tron GT now offers an impressive driving range of up to 609 km on the WLTP cycle, while the RS e-tron GT provides up to 599 km. The top-of-the-line RS e-tron GT Performance comes in just behind with a range of up to 592 km.

Charging speeds have also seen an upgrade, with the maximum DC fast-charging rate jumping from 270 to 320 kilowatts. Audi claims the new battery can go from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes, adding around 280 km in that short span. For those using a Level 2 home or workplace charger, Audi offers an optional 22.0 kW onboard charger to make charging more convenient.

Design and Interior

For 2025, the e-tron GT brings a fresh look with updated grille designs and a sleek, two-dimensional version of Audi's iconic four-ring logo. The entry-level S sports glossy black trim around its grille, while the RS models stand out with wider side air intakes and bold "L-shaped" elements. You’ll also find a selection of new wheel designs, and for the first time on an Audi, a matte carbon roof featuring eye-catching "carbon camouflage" elements is available.

Inside, the e-tron GT blends style with functionality. The cabin is equipped with multiple digital displays on its sharp, angular dashboard, complemented by premium trim. Audi offers the choice of leather interiors in various colours, or a leather-free option that uses recycled materials. Luxury touches abound, from ambient interior lighting and a head-up display to heated-and-cooled front seats with massage functions.

Though the e-tron GT’s infotainment setup isn’t as touchscreen heavy as some of Audi's other models like the A7 sedan or the e-tron SUV, it still packs plenty of tech and looks great. The central 10.1-inch touchscreen is intuitive, working with steering-wheel controls and voice-recognition software. The car also features a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, and an impressive 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system for an immersive audio experience.

One standout feature for 2025 is the smart panoramic glass roof. Audi has equipped the e-tron GT with polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) technology, which allows the roof to switch from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button—what Audi calls a "digital curtain." This innovative roof setting can be easily controlled via the touchscreen, ensuring a cooler cabin even in bright sunlight.

Cost Considerations

The latest models in the Audi e-tron GT lineup are now available to order. Prices start at €139,635 for the S e-tron GT, offering a balance of luxury and performance. The RS e-tron GT is priced at €163,395, with more power and advanced features. At the top of the range, the RS e-tron GT Performance starts at €177,650, delivering Audi’s highest level of performance in an electric vehicle yet.

If you're interested in comparing other EVs before making your decision, the GT’s main rivals include upscale models like the Mercedes-Benz EQE-Class, BMW i5, and Porsche Taycan.

Conclusion

With impressive power upgrades across all models, faster charging times, and thoughtful design enhancements both inside and out, Audi is clearly aiming to set a new standard for premium EVs. Whether you’re drawn to the entry-level S model or the top-tier RS GT Performance, the e-tron GT family offers something for every luxury EV enthusiast.
